Abstract

The implementation of bilingualism in several modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia takes place during both in-class and out-of-class learning processes. Therefore, this study aims to explore the bilingual program implemented at Al-Furqon Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya and its role in developing Arabic listening and speaking skills among 12th-grade Islamic Senior High School (MA) students at the institution. The study employs a descriptive and quantitative method using a case study approach. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires to the research sample. The questionnaire results were then analyzed using descriptive-analytical statistical methods based on the Likert scale to obtain valid data. The study produced two main findings: (1) the bilingual program at Al-Furqon Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya is implemented through various language activities, such as daily, weekly, and annual programs, supported by factors that influence the development of students' Arabic listening and speaking skills. (2) The bilingual program at this pesantren plays a significant role in improving the Arabic listening and speaking skills of 12th-grade MA students.
