Abstract
The significance of this study stems from the need to understand the impact of father-child communication on the development of children's Islamic character—especially given the lack of studies focusing on the father's role in this area and the increasing prevalence of the "fatherless" phenomenon, which negatively affects children's upbringing. This study aims to examine the communication patterns used by fathers in the "Ar-Raayah" community in Sukabumi and how these patterns contribute to shaping children's Islamic values and behaviors. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, document analysis, and asynchronous interviews with 11 fathers selected based on specific criteria. The findings reveal that fathers utilize various communication patterns, including: emotional communication that strengthens the psychological bond between father and child; participatory communication that encourages dialogue and mutual respect; narrative communication through storytelling of Islamic values; and corrective-guidance communication used to address behavioral issues in a respectful and constructive manner. The study concludes that the diversity and integration of these communication styles significantly contribute to the balanced development of an Islamic character in children and highlight the crucial role of the father in parenting, in line with Islamic principles based on compassion and communication.
