Abstract

Common vocabulary in various languages is typically acquired before specialized vocabulary, facilitating communication and improving the ability to express ideas accurately. since the prevalence of vocabulary changes with time. The Al-Munawwir Dictionary plays a crucial role in Indonesian society, with significant effort dedicated to its compilation. However, the evolution of language calls for a redefinition of common vocabulary to reflect modern linguistic conditions and enrich the resources for Indonesian learners of Arabic. This study aims to compile modern common vocabulary in the Al-Munawwir Dictionary, focusing on the range from “ibtaghā’” to “bayḍ,” based on the book "List of Common Arabic Vocabulary." This study employs a descriptive, analytical, and comparative methodology. Using the Miles and Huberman method, the research includes three stages: data identification, data presentation, and conclusion. Findings indicate that the common Arabic vocabulary list contains 120 words, including: ibtighā', ibtikār, abad, ibda', ibrah, and ibriq, while the Al-Munawwir Dictionary from “ibtaghā’” to “bayḍ” includes 181 original words, with 61 words considered uncommon based on this book.
