Implementation of Peer Counseling in Resolving Female Students’ Conflicts in the Dormitory (A Case Study at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Bahasa Arab Ar Raayah)

Abstract
This research emerged in response to the phenomenon of social conflicts among female students in campus dormitories, which negatively affect their comfort and daily harmony. The study aims to describe the role of peer counseling conducted by room leaders in addressing such daily conflicts. It employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a field case study in the dormitory of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Bahasa Arab Ar Raayah in Sukabumi. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, involving eighteen female students consisting of room leaders and members. The results reveal that peer counseling is carried out informally and relies on social relationships rather than formal administrative directives. Room leaders employ several strategies, including direct advice, role modeling, and group discussions, to resolve conflicts such as misunderstandings and jealousy among students. The study concludes that peer counseling can be an effective tool in conflict resolution if institutionally supported and equipped with proper training and guidance programs, despite challenges related to limited preparation and academic pressure.
