Abstract

This study addresses the significance of learning strategies in teaching rhetoric, considering the challenges many students face in comprehending rhetorical concepts and the limited use of rhetorical techniques in speech. It aims to explore effective strategies for teaching rhetoric and enhancing public speaking skills among first-year female students at STIBA Ar-Raayah. The research is an applied field study employing both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methodologies. Data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS 24.0. A saturated sample of 100 female students was selected, encompassing the entire study population. Findings revealed that active learning strategies are partially implemented in the educational process, indicating a need to integrate them with other approaches, such as the contextual approach, which enhances students' understanding of rhetorical rules by relating them to real-life contexts, thereby increasing their motivation to learn. Statistical analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between the rhetoric teaching strategy and public speaking skills (r = 0.464), with an impact rate of 21.5%. The study recommends adopting integrated teaching strategies that combine active learning and contextual approaches to achieve more effective learning outcomes and to strengthen students' public speaking abilities.
