Abstract

Language is a means of communication and cannot be separated from human life, as it is one of the most important tools for interaction among people around the world. One language with a particularly large vocabulary bank is Arabic. The words of Al-Mannān (The Beneficent) are written in this language, which gives it a special status in Islam. Therefore, learning Arabic is considered obligatory for all Muslims. Vocabulary is one of the key components of any language and is essential for understanding and using it effectively. Vocabulary plays a significant role in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. However, arabic is not a native or commonly spoken language in Indonesia, which is why it is taught as a specific subject in schools. One such school is Ar-Raayah Islamic Elementary School in Sukabumi, where Arabic is part of the curriculum. However, the lack of variety in the teaching aids used by the teachers, along with students’ perception that Arabic is difficult to learn, reflects their reluctance to study the language. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using flashcards in teaching Arabic vocabulary. This research is a quantitative study with an experimental approach, using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The data collected were analyzed using a paired sample t-test in Microsoft Excel, with (p(T<=t) two-tail) test and a Pearson correlation used for related samples. The results showed that the p-value obtained from the statistical analysis was 0.000393375, which is less than the standard significance level of 0.05. This indicates that the null hypothesis H₀ is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis H₁ is accepted.
